About us
Preventing loneliness, one connection at a time.
The Healing Hubs is a registered charity dedicated to preventing loneliness and isolation in adults of all ages — through face-to-face community services in Hampshire and free telephone befriending across England and Wales.
Our mission
Why we exist
Loneliness and isolation affect people of all ages — from young adults navigating difficult times to older people who have lost their networks through bereavement, ill health, or circumstance. Around 90% of the adults we support at our community hubs receive no formal care at all. For many, The Healing Hubs is their only regular contact with the outside world.
We run weekly face-to-face community hubs and sheltered housing befriending sessions in Alton and Aldershot, Hampshire — warm, welcoming spaces where adults aged 18 and over can find friendship, activities, and support. We also provide free telephone befriending to lonely and isolated adults at home across England and Wales, through our national NHS-referred service.
We are a registered charity (No. 1201382) with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. We are funded entirely through donations and grants — with no statutory core funding — and every service we deliver reflects the generosity of our supporters and the dedication of our team.
Our values
What guides everything we do
Compassion
We lead with empathy. Every person who comes to us is treated with warmth, dignity, and genuine care.
Safety
We create spaces — physical and emotional — where people feel truly safe to open up and be themselves.
Community
We believe in the power of connection. Loneliness is reduced not by services alone, but by genuine human friendship.
Inclusivity
Our services are open to all adults aged 18 and over. We actively work to remove barriers and ensure everyone can access support.
Holistic wellbeing
We look at the whole person — because loneliness affects mental health, physical health, and quality of life in equal measure.
Empowerment
We don't just support people through difficult times — we help them rebuild confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging.
Our story
How The Healing Hubs began
The Healing Hubs was founded in December 2022 by people who had seen first-hand how many adults in their communities were struggling with loneliness and isolation — with nowhere to turn and no one to call. The Monday Meeting Hub in Alton was the first step: a simple, warm space where people could come together, have a cup of tea, and feel less alone.
From that single weekly hub, we have grown rapidly. We now run four regular group sessions across Alton and Aldershot, a national telephone befriending service for NHS referrals across England and Wales, a companion home visiting service, and community wellbeing partnerships. We employ five paid staff and are supported by a dedicated team of trained volunteers.
We are registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales (No. 1201382) and have been funded entirely through donations and grants. In under three years, we have delivered over 38,000 person-hours of direct support — and we are only just getting started.

A personal story
Sarah Greenway
Chair of Trustees
Loneliness doesn't discriminate. It can touch anyone — and it touched me.
Sarah Greenway became Chair of Trustees at The Healing Hubs after experiencing the devastating impact of loneliness first-hand. Having navigated a period of profound isolation herself, she understands deeply what it means to feel invisible — and what a difference genuine human connection can make.
"I know what it feels like to sit in a room full of people and still feel completely alone," Sarah says. "I also know the moment that changes — when someone simply sits with you, listens, and makes you feel like you matter. That is what The Healing Hubs does, every single day."
Sarah brings that lived experience to her role as Chair, ensuring that the charity never loses sight of the people at its heart. Her personal journey is a reminder of why the work matters — and why no one should have to face loneliness without support.
