1. Our commitment

The Healing Hubs will take all reasonably practicable steps to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of everyone involved in our activities.

Health and safety is the responsibility of everyone in the organisation, not just management.

2. Responsibilities

The Chief Executive has overall responsibility for health and safety within The Healing Hubs.

All managers are responsible for implementing this policy within their areas of work.

All staff and volunteers are responsible for taking reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of others, and for reporting any hazards or incidents.

3. Risk assessments

Risk assessments are carried out for all activities and premises used by The Healing Hubs.

Risk assessments are reviewed regularly and whenever there is a significant change in activities or circumstances.

4. Lone working

Staff and volunteers who work alone — including telephone befrienders and home visitors — must follow our lone working procedures.

This includes informing a designated contact of their whereabouts and checking in at agreed times.

5. Incident reporting

All accidents, near misses, and dangerous occurrences must be reported to a manager and recorded in the accident book.

Serious incidents must be reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) under RIDDOR where required.

6. First aid

First aid kits are maintained at all premises used by The Healing Hubs.

At least one trained first aider is present at all in-person activities.

7. Fire safety

Fire risk assessments are carried out for all premises.

All staff and volunteers are briefed on fire evacuation procedures for the venues they use.
